VIDEO: LUKE RUSSERT REMEMBERS HIS DAD TIM RUSSERT
“My dad was my best friend,” Luke Russert said, his voice strong and clear. “To explain my bond with my father is utterly impossible to put into words.”
“My dad was my best friend,” Luke Russert said, his voice strong and clear. “To explain my bond with my father is utterly impossible to put into words.”
A special acoustic performance by Bruce Springsteen, a hero to Tim Russert, was shown at Tim Russert’s funeral via satellite from Cologne, Germany, where he is on tour, on a large screen that suddenly descended from between the center’s shimmering chandeliers. The song he played was “Thunder Road.”
Barack Obama and John McCain sat together and talked quietly at the funeral service of Tim Russert in Washington D.C., according to the New York Times.
Russert’s son, Luke, 22, made the request and requested that other politicians “engage in spirited debate but disavow the low tactics that distract Americans from the most important issues facing our country.” At the end of the service, the two candidates embraced.
“Five months from now,” Luke Russert said a few hours later, “I wanted them to remember that this occasion brought them together.”

TV Guide gave me a good laugh last night when I saw it on Perez Hilton.
I wonder why CoverAwards wasn’t sent an copy ahead of time? Hmmm.
BTW - I laughed even harder when I saw it up-close.
What a disaster.
Here, in short, is why this cover WILL BE A BIG STINKER ON THE NEWSSTAND:
People Magazine led by Larry Hackett delivers a heartfelt cover featuring the death of Tim Russert.
The main line “A Family’s Heartbreak” is truly emotional and is want the reader wants to know about at this moment.
His wife Maureen has not been heard from since this tragedy occurred on Friday, and People magazine delivers with her feelings on Tim and his life.
The main cover coupled with the hot pic of Mario Lopez (no need to cover any part of his abs) and the wedding of Sarah Evans makes this cover one of the strongest of the year for People Magazine.
Bottom Line: I predict this cover will sell over 2 million copies on the newsstand

Only days after the sudden death of Tim Russert, NBC News now must find the person to replace him on Meet the Press, according to the New York Times.
“Nobody should even think about replacing Tim Russert,” Jeff Zucker tells the NY Times. “What someone will need to do is find the next way to do ‘Meet the Press’ and provide political analysis. Anybody who thinks they can replace Tim Russert is kidding themselves.”
The potential candidates for Meet the Press include Brian Williams, David Gregory, Andrea Mitchell, Chris Matthews, Joe Scarborough and Keith Olbermann.
NBC could smooth the transition by offering the post on a temporary basis to Tom Brokaw, who stepped down as the network’s anchor in 2004. Katie Couric’s name has also been thrown in the mix.
Thoughts?
