KATIE COURIC’S QUOTE OF THE DAY…

“If I listened to what every bitch in New York City said about me, I’d never leave the house,” said Couric on The View.

(Couric referenced the quote from Kim Cattrall’s character Samantha in Sex and the City.)

BARACK OBAMA: Yeah, You Love Me!

KEITH OLBERMANN ALMOST SCORED TOP GIG AT CBS

Do you think CBS is regretting passing up on Keith Olbermann now that Katie Couric is pretty much done at CBS?

CBS considered Keith Olbermann, the host of “Countdown” on MSNBC, as a potential replacement for Dan Rather on the “CBS Evening News” before selecting Katie Couric, according to The New Yorker magazine.

According to the report, CBS was seeking a replacement for Dan Rather in 2005. At that time, there were two meetings between CBS executives and Olbermann over hiring him to be the anchor of the CBS nightly newscast.

Would Olbermann have been a better choice than Couric?

NBC’S DIFFICULT CHALLENGE: HOW TO REPLACE LEGEND TIM RUSSERT

(Image via Splash)

Only days after the sudden death of Tim Russert, NBC News now must find the person to replace him on Meet the Press, according to the New York Times.

“Nobody should even think about replacing Tim Russert,” Jeff Zucker tells the NY Times. “What someone will need to do is find the next way to do ‘Meet the Press’ and provide political analysis. Anybody who thinks they can replace Tim Russert is kidding themselves.”

The potential candidates for Meet the Press include Brian Williams, David Gregory, Andrea Mitchell, Chris Matthews, Joe Scarborough and Keith Olbermann.

NBC could smooth the transition by offering the post on a temporary basis to Tom Brokaw, who stepped down as the network’s anchor in 2004. Katie Couric’s name has also been thrown in the mix.

STAND UP 2 CANCER WEB SITE LAUNCHES

Katie Couric, Brian Williams and Charles Gibson just appeared on the Today Show to announce the Stand Up To Cancer efforts.

One of the big components is this new web site.

BRING KATIE BACK TO TODAY

I just watched Katie make her first return to the Today Show in two years with Charlie Gibson and Brian Williams for the big Stand Up 2 Cancer Announcement.

I have to say that Katie belongs back on morning TV.

And it’s clear Matt has much better chemistry with Katie than he has with Meredith (nothing against Meredith.)  It’s just obvious.

When Katie’s gig is up at CBS, do you think she’ll return to the Today Show?

KATIE COURIC BACK ON TODAY SHOW

Katie Couric (seen here at last night’s premiere for Sex and the City) just arrived to the Today Show with Charles Gibson and Brian Williams for the big announcement.

She was seen waving to the crowd feeling right at home.

I bet a lot of Today Show fans would like her to come back permanently.
