USA Basketball Team Redeems Itself with Gold in Beijing

They did it!

USA Basketball completed its extreme makeover today with a totally new Olympic experience.

In defeating Spain, 118-107, for the gold medal, the Americans persevered in their first wire-to-wire competitive game of the 2008 Olympics, reports the New York Times.

Richard Stengel, Time’s Managing Editor, appeared on my favorite morning news show MORNING JOE on MSNBC, and said something like he simply couldn’t decide who to put on the cover of this special Olympic preview issue of Time Magazine.

Both stories were equally compelling. Dana Torres, the 41-year old swimmer and can LeBron James lead the men’s Olympic basketball team back to glory? (BTW-Time’s cover of Lebron James is not controversial at all compared to his appearance on Vogue with Giselle.)

Anna Wintour’s Contoversial Vogue Cover

“This cover of the current issue of Anna Wintour’s Vogue, featuring LeBron James and Gisele Bundchen, is proving controversial with some African Americans,” reports Radar.  ”While no one questions the historical importance of James’ cover appearance—he’s the first black man ever to be so featured—word in the black blogosphere is that the cover plays into the old stereotype of the black man as a savage in search of a prized white woman,” according to Radar.  For the complete report, click here.
