Life & Style has a few good things going for it this week with its BABY BOOM cover.

First, women love tor read stories about other women having babies.  I know that’s obvious.

Plus, Mariah Carey has an incredible group of fans that will buy anything she’s featured on.

On the not so good side of this cover…

LIFE & STYLE SAYS SHILOH’S LONELY

Pasetsky’s Cover Critique

Talk about big gets!

Life & Style has an exclusive with Shiloh Jolie-Pitt and this looks TOTALLY riveting.

According to the mag’s cover, Shiloh feels so left out and is LONELY.

Doesn’t this just want to make you cry?

Okay - let’s get serious for a moment.

LIFE & STYLE HEDGES ITS BETS WITH “FRIENDS FEAR” JESSICA SIMPSON DUMPED COVER!

Pasetsky’s Cover Critique

How do you know that a magazine doesn’t know for sure if its story is true?

The big tip-off on this cover is the line above the main line “DUMPED AGAIN,” which says “Friends Fear Jessica Got.”

When a magazine says something like this “Friends Fear” it’s a clear indication that the editors are not 100 percent sure that the story is TRUE.

So what you’ll get is a lot of insiders saying that they “think its over.” Plus - of course, you’ll get the obligatory rep denial.

On another note, I question the editorial judgement of Life & Style.

PASETSKY’S PREDICTIONS: What will the Celebrity Weeklies Put on Their Covers This Week!

It’s Monday and time for my big predictions for this week’s celebrity cover topics:

Patrick Swayze - Expect one to two of the major glossies to pick up where the National Enquirer left off in breaking this sad story.   It has attracted global attention.  Don’t be surprised if you get, “The Truth  Behind Patrick Swayze’s Illness.”

Angelina Jolie - Where will one of the weeklies go this week?   Look for one to focus on Angie and Brad’s baby joy.  Yes, this story never gets old.  How can you move the story forward?  Perhaps, Brad and Angie are also adopting?

Britney Spears - Britney’s Dad is getting $2,500 a week to watch over Britney.  I think it’s great that he’s stepping in and helping Brit get better, but I bet she’s resenting the help.   My belief is that one weekly will have Britney “Storming Out” or some other type of drama with her family, e.g. she’s pissed her Dad is hanging with K-Fed.

Jamie Lynn Spears — Also on the Spears front, don’t forget about Jamie Lynn!  She’s still prime cover topic fodder and I’d bet on one of the celebrity weeklies featuring Jamie Lynn experiencing some type of baby scare.

Pasetsky’s Celebrity Weekly Predictions

More Brangie, More Heath, and, Unfortunately, More Britney!

It’s Monday and all the celebrities weeklies close their issues today (except People, which closes Tuesday).

Celebrity editors had the weekend to reflect on the big stories of the week and think about how they can top last weeks covers (see above).    It’s also time for me to predict this week’s big stories (I was on the mark last week.  Click here and you’ll see how some of the weeklies took may have taken my suggestions to heart).

After the jump are my predictions for the main story topics for this upcoming week!
