Readers Care if Their Magazines Are Green Reports AdAge

Magazine readers are concerned about the environment and are already taking steps to live more sustainably, according to a survey of Hearst Magazines subscribers aged 13 and up. Almost four out of five respondents agreed that everyone should care about being eco-friendly, the survey found.

Well, it looks like we’ll continue to see covers like this one of Gwyneth Paltrow (I mean look at her FACE!).

“Photoshop abuse is out of control at magazines, partly because celebrities demand protection from exposure to reality and partly because editors live and die by newsstand sales,” reports AdAge.

SUPPLEMENTS DRIVING AD DOLLARS FOR NEWSPAPERS

Despite the doom and gloom surrounding the newspaper industry, it appears that special supplements are holding the sky up from falling.

According to Nat Ives over at AdAge, Parade, “the Sunday magazine that comes with your local newspaper, is planning on launching a monthly health-and-wellness supplement this September.”

Why?  It seems that these kinds of in-paper magazines are attracting NEW ad dollars.

People’s Heath Ledger Cover To Hit Newstands Friday

People Magazine is the only celebrity weekly with Heath Ledger on its cover this week.   With the rest of celebrity category closing its issues on Monday night, People closes Tuesday evening and was able to feature the story on its cover.   In short time, People did an incredible job.   The photo is captivating - both the main image and the one with his daughter Matilda.   For more info on People’s cover, check out Nat Ive’s article on  Ad Age.
