NEW YORK DAILY NEWS: Farewell Shea Stadium!

Good news Mets fans.

Shea Stadium is getting dismantled starting today.

And, it’s about time.

It will give the team a fresh start next year.  Good riddens!

But - thanks for the memories - 1969 and 1986 plus some other memorable playoff runs.

This week’s cover of SI features the playoff bound Chicago Cubs.

And for Mets fans like myself, last night proved to be another disappointing September moment as the Cubs beat the Mets 9-6.

According to SI, “the ninth inning looked like almost like a sure thing and a certain win when Daniel Murphy opened the inning with a triple, and as the rookie put it, “three of the best hitters in baseball” coming up next, ready to break a 6-6 tie. But David Wright, who’s been pressing, whiffed on a 3-2 pitch, then the Cubs intentionally walked Carlos Delgado and Carlos Beltran and got struggling Ryan Church on a groundout and Ramon Castro on a strikeout.”

American Idols Meet The Mets Plus Mets WIN!

The Idols got to join in batting practice with the New York Mets who enjoyed a victory today thanks to a David Wright home run.

They defeated the Padres 5-3.

NY METS BACK IN FIRST PLACE, SERIOUSLY

What a turnaround.

David Wright’s two-run homer in the ninth inning rallied the NY Mets to their 10th straight victory Thursday night, a 10-8 win over the Cincinatti Reds that moved once-languishing New York back into first place in the NL East.
