SURPRISE: National Media Favors McCain, Not Obama Says New Study

The Center for Media and Public Affairs at George Mason University, where researchers have tracked network news content for two decades, found that ABC, NBC and CBS were tougher on Barack Obama than on Republican John McCain during the first six weeks of the general-election campaign, reports the L.A. Times.

During the evening news, the majority of statements from reporters and anchors on all three networks are neutral, the center found. And when network news people ventured opinions in recent weeks, 28% of the statements were positive for Obama and 72% negative.

US Weekly Corrects In Touch Story on Jen Aniston

Here we go again.

While Janice Min and the Us Weekly team create faux news of their own, they still find time to correct other magazines stories.

At this point, Us Weekly should FIRST focus on getting its own stories correct. Then, move on to the rest of the category.

HOWEVER…

FAN SITE PROFILE: Madonnalicious.com Keeps Madonna Fans in the Know!

CoverAwards’ continues its fan site series and today we focus on the one and only Madonna - pretty timely!

We spoke with Clare, the founder of madonnalicious.com, one of the top Madonna fan sites in the world.

When did you start the site?

The site started in 2001 as a means to display the pictures I had taken at Madonna’s Drowned World Tour show in London. They weren’t that good but I wanted to share them with the Madonna community that was growing online.

Why did you start it?

I wanted to share these pictures with fellow fans I had met on various Madonna fan forums which I started visiting in late 2000. After getting feedback from the forum members I realized I could share some of the UK press that wasn’t getting featured on other Madonna fan sites. By 2004 the site was getting over 20,000 hits a day and won the BT Digital Music Award for Best Unofficial Music Site!

The sites purpose has always been to simply gather all the Madonna news and publish it all as concisely as possible. It allows fans from all over the world to see and read the news, magazine articles, TV shows from other countries that they would not have any other opportunity to view, and during tours fans from all over the world submit their show reports and pictures, it allows madonnalicious to build up a great date-by-date archive of the tour. Ideally it should be your one-stop Madonna-shop!

What’s your favorite Madonna moment?

There are so many but I guess it would be personal memories from seeing her live on tour. The first ever concert I went to was Blond Ambition way back in 1990! Standing in the stage pits at the Re-Invention tour and being SO close to the action and Madonna holding my hand while singing Deeper and Deeper.

What are you thoughts on the current rumors surrounding Madonna and her personal life?

In regards to what I put on the site it is quite hard to deal with. I don’t wish to censor my news but I feel that until we have a definite statement from Madonna’s camp I don’t wish to perpetuate the current crop of rumors.

What are her fans like?

Highly passionate! The madonnalicious forum contains many fans from many different walks of life. We are like one big family, we sometimes fight but always make up. Someone always has an opinion! I guess Madonna taught us well.

Anything else you would like to add?

Even though I run the site on my own, it helps that readers submit news stories from all over the world. I wouldn’t be able to run the site without their input.

BREAKING NEWS: Publishers Desperate to Find New Sources of Distribution

Trying to Supplement Copies Sold in Your Local Supermarket, Publishers Find Some Success in New Locations

“While magazines continue to lose racks in supermarkets, they are becoming innovative (NOT) and heading to nontraditional retailers and dollars stores,” according to Mediaweek.

My Suggestion.  Try making a deal with Starbucks.

Starbucks in the Financial District of Boston, Massachusetts

Yes.  I know that you all have tried this before.  But why not try it again?  It’s the perfect place for potential growth.

Oh, but will consumers read the magazine and put it back on the rack?  Then create some type of device where the consumer has to buy the magazine from a machine and can’t put it back after they’ve read it!   Come on, it’s 2008!  You can do it!
