COVER CRITIQUE: OK Magazine Covers Kim Kardashian’s Curves

To purchase this issue of OK Magazine, click here!

I have a few questions.

How did Kim Kardashian get so famous? I still don’t get it.

And why would OK select this as its main cover over DJ AM and Travis Barker’s plane tragedy.

When you look at the rest of the celebrity weekly set (with the exception of Life & Style which covered the crash) each magazine had a compelling cover.

Except for OK!

Why doesn’t this cover work besides what I’ve already said?

Did OK! Magazine Get Two Britney Spears’ Covers for the Price of One?

To purchase this magazine, click here.

If they did, the magazine made a very good deal.

Last week’s cover promised and delivered on a Britney’s first interview and exclusive photos.

This week, OK features Britney’s toned body.

And OK saved the better issue for last.

This is an incredibly strong cover.

Why?

WORST CELEBRITY WEEKLY COVERS OF THE WEEK: It’s a Tie Between…

TV Guide’s Miley Cyrus Cover

Life & Style’s Lindsay Lohan Cover

When it comes to TV Guide, I don’t get the direction the magazine is going in. One week it’s the x-Files movie, and the next it’s Miley Cyrus. For my complete critique, click here.

Life & Style’s cover is borderline homophobic. The magazine asks if Linday Lohan is gay? And if she is? Is that a bad thing? Plus, the magazine asks the question, which I mentioned earlier this week, shows that the mag probably doesn’t know the answer.

For the best magazine cover of the week, make the jump!

PASETSKY PREDICTS: 2008 1/2 Half Newsstand Numbers for Celebrity Weekly Category

Who will be number one on the newsstand?

It looks like People Magazine will retain that title on the newsstand.

But, there is a bit of a shake-up happening in the category when it comes to newsstand sales, which are a key metric for a magazine’s vitality.

Here’s my prediction for the first half of 2008: (This prediction does not include subscription sales):

  1. People Magazine
  2. Us Weekly
  3. InTouch
  4. Star
  5. National Enquirer
  6. OK!
  7. Life & Style
  8. Globe
  9. TV Guide

The official numbers will be out in about a month. But, I bet these are pretty on target.

OK SCORES TORI SPELLING BABY PICTURES

Dear Tori,

I want to congratulate you on your second birth.

I’m so happy for you and your husband (what’s his name again?)

Your baby looks like a doll - yes - literally looks like a doll.

How old is your baby in that picture? Is it even a week old?

Well, anyhow, you scored big time. You must have been payed about 300K for these pictures.

Sure, you’re not Angelina Jolie so you won’t get 15 mil but 300K or so isn’t bad.

What’s next for you?
