DID YOU HEAR? George and Laura Bush SPLIT!

Do you care?

That’s the big question Globe faces this week.

While we’ve seen that Globe consistently features stories for the senior citizen set, I’m not so sure this one  will fly off newsstands this week.

President Bush’s approval ratings are at an all-time low and I’m not sure many would want to be seen with a cover of George Bush in their shopping cart.  (I admit I’m bias on this one and can’t stand Bush.  There, I said it.)

Continuing to appeal to senior citizens, and possibly introduce Elvis to new fans, is a promising photo spread of the King when he was only 21.

Charlie Sheen Makes a Ton of Money for Making You Laugh

Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen is the highest-paid comedy actor ($825,000 per episode), and CSI star William Peterson rakes in $600,000 an episode, although he’s leaving the show this season, reports TV Guide.

OPRAH HITS MEGA MILLIONS…EVERY YEAR

TV Guide’s annual star salary survey reports that Oprah Winfrey makes roughly $385 million per year.

Other top television personalities include David Letterman ($32 million) and Simon Cowell ($50 million).

The complete list comes out August 7th.

It’d be interesting to hear what viewers think their TV stars should earn.

NATIONAL ENQUIRER SAYS “Oprah Betrays Stedman”

Last week, the National Enquirer received a lot of flack for its Cher marriage cover especially after Cher’s rep denied she was getting married.

I wonder what the reaction - if any - there will be to this week’s cover featuring Oprah Winfrey allegedly “betraying Stedman [Graham].”

MARTHA STEWART: YOU’RE LATE!

What’s Martha late about?

She’s late on bringing in other “stars” into her empire.

This month’s “Everyday Food” features the initial issue with Emeril Lagasse.

While I can’t argue with Martha’s incredible success, this type of move should have been done years ago. (Like years before she went to jail - sorry to bring up a soar topic Martha!)

OPRAH TOPS FORBES’ POWER LIST

For the second year in a row, Oprah Winfrey is the No. 1 power-player on Forbes magazine’s 2008 Celebrity list.

The magazine said Oprah is “continuing to influence audiences around the world through her vast media empire, which earned her $275 million during the past year.”

Tiger Woods ranked a close second with $115 million, making him the highest-earning athlete in the world.

Forbes bases its rankings largely on celebrity earnings, but also media coverage.
