Does Richard Desmond Have a Reason to be Concerned About OK! Magazine?

You betcha.

Perhaps, that’s why he made the trek to NYC earlier this week, as reported by today’s NY Post.

With the economy continuing to suffer and OK’s sales not meeting expectations, Desmond’s patience must be running out.

Desmond originally vowed to spend at least $100 million on the US title before it turned a profit, and by most accounts, the three-year-old magazine has lost that amount since its inception, according to the report.

How David Pecker Stole the Spotlight From Richard Desmond

There’s been a flurry of news in the celebrity weekly/online space today.

First, OK! Magazine revamped the top of its masthead by bringing in a new EIC, publisher and creative director.

A few hours later, Radar Magazine shut its doors.

And, now we have confirmation that RadarOnline’s website will live to see more than another day thanks to American Media.

So who had the best day?

It goes to David Pecker.

Sarah Ivens To Leave OK! Magazine

Sarah Ivens, who has been running OK! since Richard Desmond launched the American version three years ago, is leaving the mag at Christmas.

She insists that decision was made in June prior to the arrival of Kent Brownridge, the magazine’s new general manager.

Jamie Lynn Spears’ baby photos, which reportedly cost OK! 1 million dollars, was the most successful, selling an estimated 750,000 copies on newsstands, according to the New York Post.
