Roger Federer took one step closer to history by winning his 13th major championship – one short of Pete Sampras’ fourteen, reports ESPN.

“One thing’s for sure,” said Federer. “I’m not going to stop at 13. That would be terrible.”

Federer Vs. Murray in US Open Final

History will be made on Tuesday as Roger Federer takes on Andy Murray in the US Open.

If Federer wins he will be his 13th grand slam titleand fifth US Open in a row. If Murray takes the title, he will be the first British man to do so in the 40-year Open era.

SPORTS ILLUSTRATED: The Perfect Way to Remember Nadal’s Historic Victory

For tennis fans, this is a must-have issue of Sports Illustrated.

Selecting a picture for this cover must have been tough but in the end I think SI did a good job showing Nadal’s victory over Federer at this year’s Wimbledon final.

It shows Roger Federer struggling while Rafael Nadal is ready for anything.

NO, RAFAEL NADAL IS NOT IN PAIN

It didn’t get more dramatic than yesterday’s Wimbledon Tennis Championship, where Rafael Nadal broke Roger Federer’s streak of five consecutive Wimbledon titles.   The match took 4-hours and 58 minutes.

And there you see a jubilant Nadal on the cover of today’s New York Times.

And, yes I watched all of it.
