Starbucks Lays Off 1,000 Jobs: In-Store Employees Apparently Not Affected

STARBUCKS CLOSURES HIT NYC; But 225 Stores Remain

Not even our great city was spared from the demise of Starbucks.

Midtown Manhattan is getting hit hard including the locations at 340 Madison Avenue (at 44th Street), 400 Madison Avenue (near 48th Street), 1600 Broadway (near 48th Street), 1675 Broadway (near 52nd Street), 565 Fifth Avenue (near 46th Street) and on the fifth floor of Macy’s flagship store in Herald Square, reports the New York Times.

BREAKING NEWS: Publishers Desperate to Find New Sources of Distribution

Trying to Supplement Copies Sold in Your Local Supermarket, Publishers Find Some Success in New Locations

“While magazines continue to lose racks in supermarkets, they are becoming innovative (NOT) and heading to nontraditional retailers and dollars stores,” according to Mediaweek.

 My Suggestion.  Try making a deal with Starbucks.

Yes.  I know that you all have tried this before.  But why not try it again?  It’s the perfect place for potential growth. 

Oh, but will consumers read the magazine and put it back on the rack?  Then create some type of device where the consumer has to buy the magazine from a machine and can’t put it back after they’ve read it!   Come on, it’s 2008!  You can do it!
