Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton said “the New Yorker may think, as one of their staff explained to us, that their cover is a satirical lampoon of the caricature Senator Obama’s right-wing critics have tried to create, but most readers will see it as tasteless and offensive. And we agree.”

NEW YORKER BARACK OBAMA COVER: Race or Terrorism?

While I don’t approve of this sort of cover by any means, I cannot say that I am shocked to actually see it. In my opinion, the racial implications that are put forth in this cover relate more to race rather than terrorism.

New Yorker Magazine Featuring Barack & Michelle Obama Under Fire: YES, THIS GOES TOO FAR!

In a satirical swipe at the crazy rumors about the presidential candidate and his wife, Michelle, the liberal magazine depicts them as terrorists in the oval office. Obama is in Muslim clothing; Michelle, in an Afro and military garb, has an AK-47 slung over he shoulder, reports the UK Guardian.
