As CoverAwards reported earlier today, Time and Newsweek hit newsstands in New York with their commemorative Michael Jackson issues.

According to Universal News, NY’s leading magazine retailer and a supporter of CoverAwards, the stores are being overwhelmed with requests for Michael Jackson magazines.

Mohamed Ahmed, who manages the Universal News store on 7th Avenue and 22nd street, said, “One customer requested 10 copies of Time and Newsweek Magazine – and came back to store to purchase five more.  There are also numerous customers calling on the phone requesting copies before they come to the store.”

Clearly, many are seeing the future profit making potential of buying the magazines at the cover price today and selling on sites like Ebay in the future.
