Spencer Pratt: Our Marriage is Real Damn it

Buy US Weekly HERE!

Spencer Pratt is laughing at reports that his recent wedding to Heidi Montag was fake.

(I’m crying cause this is all such a joke - don’t you think?!?)

“We had a beautiful ceremony here at One & Only Palmilla officiated by a minister and photographed by the hotel photographer,” he says in a statement. “We’ve never been happier.”

And surprise:

US WEEKLY: Barack Obama Says ‘I Think I’m a Pretty Cool Dad’

To purchase this issue of Us Weekly, visit Universal News HERE!

This is one of the strangest weeks in the world of celebrity weeklies.

I’m starting to think there is some type of behind the scenes discussions going on here. (kidding - sort of)

This week, there are four Obama covers.

Each one has a different angle.

We kicked off this morning with Globe, which featured the battle between Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey.

Then, we shared with you People Magazine and its ‘Inside the Obamas New Life.”

Next up was OK! magazine and ‘Michelle Obama’s Private World.’

Now, here’s Us Weekly’s Barack Obama, ‘I Think I’m a Pretty Cool Dad’ cover.

What are the chances???

And how does Us Weekly stand up to the rest of the category?

GREAT NEWS FOR CELEBRITY WEEKLIES: New Study Shows Reading Gossip “Eases Fear of Dying”

To buy your favorite celebrity weeklies, visit Universal New HERE!

If one of your great fears is dying, you may want to start reading up on Angelina, Brad, Britney, Paris and all of your other favorite celebrities.

Unfortunately, this obsession will not help you live longer.

BUT, a new study in Pyschology Today reports that identifying with celebrities helps us boost a sense of our own immortality, reports the NY Daily News.

To many of us, celebs seem so above it all that we think if we dress, act and eat them, we’ll actually be like them. And - just like our fave demigods - we’ll leave behind a lasting legacy, according to researchers from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Psychology grad student Pelin Kesebir and her professer, Chi-Yue Chiu conducted the study.

“What we found is that the universal fascination with celebrities can be explained by this desire for immortality,” Kesebir said. “Famous people are perceived as immortal in the symbolic sense, and their perceived imperishability serves as a buffer against our fear of the nothingness that comes after death.”

Thinking about death makes us look for meaning in the world by identifying with people whose legacy will survive us, Kesebir says. “We strive for the symbolic form of immmortality,” she says.

US WEEKLY: Inside Jennifer Hudson’s Family Tragedy

To Buy All of Your Favorite Celebrity Weeklies, Visit Universal News HERE!

This week it’s a face-off between Us Weekly and People Magazine.

Both feature the tragic Jennifer Hudson story.

Us Weekly pretty much used the exact cover line I suggested on Monday.

Overall, this is an emotional cover.

It promises specifics, e.g. how a family squabble may have turned deadly.

It also delivers the moment Jennifer Hudson found out about the tragedy.  This is what Us Weekly does very well as a magazine.  It delivers those “moments” that readers are most intrigued by.  This is certainly one of them.

John McCain’s People Magazine Cover Selling Far Under Palin Covers

With National Enquirer, People MagazineUs Weekly and OK! Magazinecovers, it seems that Sarah Palin is a tabloid superstar.  McCain, on the other hand isn’t fairing so well, at least in newsstand sales.

According to a source, the McCain family issue of People has not sold as well as the Palin cover and is even selling below the magazine’s weekly average, reports MSNBC.
