Wedding Bells For Salma Hayek

New mommy Salma Hayek is getting back to work, reports Variety.  Her and  producing partner, Jose Tamez, are developing an hour-long reality series about weddings.

But don’t expect Salma to show up in a white dress for the show.  She called off her engagement to French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault in July because she doesn’t feel “the need” to get married.

DIMINUTIVE DISHES HOT AT WEDDINGS

“Eschewing the sit-down meal, some couples are having elegant small plates served to the tables or at themed stations (think ramekins of truffled macaroni and cheese, and shots of seafood risotto).

OOPS! SAYS STARS DIE TO BE THIN

And, yes, this is another contribution from our French correspondent Vincent Garmain.

I preface this post by saying that I don’t speak a lick of French (which I should have mentioned earlier) - and yes it’s my fault if Vincent is totally f&*k*n with me on the translations.

The cover of Oops! Magazine says stars are “ready to die to lose weight. The forbidden diets of the stars.” I WANT A FULL TRANSLATION!!!

And apparently, Brad & Angelina’s neighbors in France are fed up - probably ’cause of all those paps..

Plus, we get to see some summer weddings, e.g. Nicole & Joel.

On another front, I like the fun layout of the cover. It feels fresh compared to the boxy feel of the covers in the United States’ celebrity weekly market.

MOTIF MANIA AT WEDDINGS IN 2008

“Logo designs have become more unusual to reflect a one-of-a-kind party. Replacing autumn leaves, lobsters and sailboats are ultra-unique motifs such as antique airplanes, Russian dolls and even squirrels - appearing on invitations, menu cards, cakes and more.”

WEDDINGS 2008: TAKEAWAY CENTERPIECES!

Are you the type of person that always wants the centerpiece - and are disappointed if you don’t get it!

Well - now worries!

The latest in two-in-one wedding elements are these multi-piece arrangements: flowers in smaller vessels grouped together that are easily disassembled at the end of the night so that guests can each bring a vessel home as a favor.

WEDDINGS: PERSONALIZED POSTAGE?

Yes, that’s a trend.

“Couples are customizing the stamps for their save-the-dates, invitations and thank you notes.

Some use a photo or a monogram; others choose a pattern or image that reflects the wedding theme.”

NON-TRADIONAL BOUQETS?

“From pomanders to parasols, balls of blooms and even non non-floral objects are a a fun option for the walk down the aisle. Other ideas: drawsting purses or large single blooms (such as one sunflower)

INVITE YOUR WEDDING GUESTS INFORMALLY?

According to Modern Bride, “Some couples are veering from the traditional, ultraformal white or cream invitations guest are used to and sending brighter, more playful options instead.

Hot ink colors (fuchsia, turqoise, red) are unexpected and eye-catching - and mixing modern and scripted fonts is a unique touch.”

WEDDINGS 2008: IT’S ALL ABOUT NATURE!

“To bring the outdoors in, event designers are decorating tables with leaves and branches in novel ways, building centerpieces to resemble trees - complete with bird nests and dangling moss - and sewing faux leaves into the lines and chair covers.”

HOT COLORS RULE SUMMER 2008 SUMMER WEDDINGS

“The runways are influencing reception decor, most notably with au courant color combinations.

The hottest hues: deep purple mixed with gray, and black and white with a third shade (lime green, butter yellow, charteuse) used sparingly, as an accent.”
